Exploring how to create oneself
Exploring Energy - Week 3
Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. George Bernard Shaw
Ultimately - when you create yourself you will also find yourself - that's really good news, isn't it? Just trying to find yourself might be a fruitless search in comparison, because the action part of creating is missing...
Last week we looked at 'Where attention goes, energy flows'...this week we will tweak this a bit into 'Where intention goes, energy flows'.
This relates to the role action plays in this, because with just re-acting - as opposed to taking action - we are leaving ourselves dangling in the wind that blows from all sorts of directions, depending on what is going on...
So what does it mean 'creating yourself'?
Basically it means knowing what does you good and what you truly enjoy doing - not in the sense of self-indulgence of course, but in the sense of nurturing yourself holistically - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. 'Creating yourself' is a direct result of your daily choices and how you decide to spend your time, your life.
Little by little, step by step, turning self-consciousness, self-awareness into self-confidence through paying attention to our choices and their implications, and then starting to set intentions for what we wish to realize in our lives! This is powerful. An intention will start to pull you forward, it will draw in energies to support your intention from many directions, often unexpected ones which will chip in and propel you forward!
George Bernard Shaw has left a few more profound insights about how it works to make the most of your life - amongst them the following: "This is the true joy in life - being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one... and progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."
This is powerful. An intention will start to pull you forward, it will draw in energies to support your intention from many directions, often unexpected ones which will chip in and propel you forward!
Energy will flow wherever our attention goes - so be careful. Is your attention busy with staring at negative stuff - you will attract more of that - automatically. But if you focus on the good stuff, the goodwill gets better. Easy, isn't it? The only thing you have to do first is to get your thinking under control and deliberately choose thoughts that serve the intention you have set!
Sometimes if there is no clarity about what the next best intention would be to set, playing could be the answer. Playing is something inherent creative and it will help us to open new doors for our next steps. And to emphasize this, here is a last gem from Bernard Shaw's wisdom for today: "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." Start playing again and you'll find multiple ways to liven up your creativity!
Backbends are our main focus over this term - backbends open the chest and the heart and stretch the spine - freeing stuck energy and clearing the pathways for fresh energy to enter. In addition, opening the lungs allows them to deliver more oxygen to the body, thus nourishing and energizing the cells. Backbends are often referred to as 'heart-opening' postures, meaning they open our feeling center which is so much more receptive to play and creativity than the brain with its tendency to control. Backbends help us create a new kind of openness! And openness helps us to let creativity happen!
