ABOUT

For me, it is about you!

Let your intuition guide you to enjoy Yoga in a new way...

My teaching is Hatha Yoga based and I specialize in intuitive Yoga - intuitive and gentle with a challenging edge for healthy expansion. This means I will encourage you often to find your own rhythm, go at your own pace, rest when needed, and never hold a pose longer than it feels right for you!

Using your intuition in Yoga can greatly help with learning to listen to our bodies, gently adjusting postures to our individual needs, enhancing our overall well-feeling, and thus supporting you to create a practice that becomes uniquely your own.

It is all about being kind to yourself, progressing slowly, feeling comfortable and relaxed, enjoying the sessions, and emerging refreshed and inspired!

I offer a holistic practice that provides 'Yoga for the mind' alongside our physical practice. We work on themes each term like  ‘Feeling centered’, 'Exploring Energy', or currently 'Finding Balance' and each week we look into different aspects of our theme and how to apply it on & off the mat, e.g. how to find balance for ourselves in daily life also.

About Me

My name is Maja Moritz. I am a certified and registered Yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.

In 2016 I completed my Yoga Teacher Training (RYT200) in Bali at 'Intuitive Flow'. Life changing!

I am originally from Germany and have been living in Christchurch, New Zealand since 2004. Before I decided to become a yoga teacher in 2016, I already had about 20 years of experience with my own yoga practice. I am totally passionate about yoga and its holistic philosophy - it gives us everything we need to better understand life and ourselves, find our own balance and joy in life, as well as the freedom to create our lives in the way that is best for us personally.

My teaching style is based on Hatha Yoga and I specialize in intuitive Yoga because it reminds us to listen to our bodies and find out what is good for us.

My Yoga sessions are all about gentleness, well-feeling and individual freedom with a challenging edge for healthy expansion.

Before becoming a yoga and meditation teacher, I studied multimedia in Christchurch. In Germany I got a Diploma in Communication Design (equal to a Bachelor Degree in NZ) at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg before working internationally as a professional sports photographer for a long time.

My Experience

Please check my experience including locations & teaching hours here on my Yoga Alliance Yoga Teacher Profile. Meanwhile, I have accumulated over 2000 teaching hours.

Besides my passion for yoga & meditation, I have since explored a few other ways that can help us live our best lives.

In 2018/2019, I completed my first online training with the Health Coach Institute (HCI) and am certified as a Health Coach. Transformational!

2020/2021 I got certified via the online meditation teacher training with chopra.com. Enlightening!

And in 2022 I finally discovered an energy healing modality that involves working with my hands: Marma Therapy is an important part of Ayurveda and can be described as Ayurvedic Acupressure or Ayurvedic energy point activation. I am now certified in Ayurvedic Marma Technique. Heavenly!

Please let me know in case you have questions.

I look forward to meeting you!

Namaste, Maja

I love nature and spend as much time as possible outside - at the beach, in the forest, or in the garden...

A Special Thank You Note

With heartfelt gratitude, I would like to mention my mentor Justine Wheelans. I was able to work with Justine from the time before my Yoga teacher training began - preparing for the training and with lots of opportunity to ask questions, it was invaluable for the start and beyond. Once I had finished my training we began working together on a weekly basis for about 2 years and Justine's support made all the difference, enabling me to translate what I had learned during the teacher training into the practice of teaching classes. I am particularly happy and grateful that this provided the chance for me to continue and deepen my studies via this individual mentoring which is the traditional way how Yoga knowledge was passed on.
