Yoga for the Mind: My Happy Place

How to find your happy place

Feeling Centered - Week 7

Do you know your happy place? Where is your happy place? How easy can you get there? Is it a place outside somewhere? And when you go there, is your inner happiness following? Or is it a place inside yourself - no matter the outer circumstances? Or both?

'All is well in my happy place!' This sentence alone could prompt your happy place to fly to you in no time - in case no happy place comes flying by straight away - rejoice - because your happy place is waiting for you to discover it!

Maybe you think - I used to have one, but I don't know where it has gone at the moment? That's ok, sometimes they hide. And why do they hide? Usually because we are not a 'vibrational match' (Esther Hicks) to it. As Esther Hicks puts it: If there is something in your life that gives you negative emotion almost every time you think about it, we would do ANYTHING that we could do to get that negative thing out of our awareness.

That is the key. Cleaning up your mind. Deliberately! A happy place can be a paradise-like spot somewhere you have once been or are even able to visit quite frequently, BUT there are many unknowns that can spoil our happy place when it is dependent on a real place - somewhere in the outside world.

If there is something in your life that gives you negative emotion almost every time you think about it, we would do ANYTHING that we could do to get that negative thing out of our awareness.   Esther Hicks

You probably guessed it: We need to find our happy place within, so that it is always with us and we can easily access it! Our mind is like a muscle that can be trained. (Kaisa Kapanen) - And one way to do that is by applying one-pointed focused attention. This is called Dharana - the sixth limb of the eightfold Yogic path - Dharana is the total concentration on one thing and is an effective way to train our mind.

Ultra-focused light, like in a laser, can cut through steel. (Michelle Fondin) This is what complete focus is like - pure power and strength. The ego, in the form of self-importance and doubts, causes distraction. When there is distraction, focus is gone - strength and power are gone. If we can focus totally - without distraction and doubts - it is so powerful that we can actually manifest anything we want in our lives. It is one of the BEST tools to create a happy place from the inside out.

Visualization is a great skill for manifesting desires. The reason why most people have difficulty manifesting the objects of their desire is that they are looking at the obstacles in front of them rather than having a clear, focused picture of the outcome - their happy place. Visualize daily your desired outcome and remind yourself that perceived obstacles are mere distractions. (Michelle Fondin) - Bring back your focus on your desired outcome and many happy places will stream into your reality!

Here is an invitation to take a minute to connect to your happy place, visualize your happy place, and totally focus on whatever you imagine your happy place to be. Be clear and specific and enjoy!
