Yoga for the Mind: Self-Compassion

A powerful game changer

Feeling Centered - Week 6

Self-compassion can change everything!

Today we are exploring self-compassion and why it can be such a powerful game-changer.

Usually, we are preoccupied with getting things done and taking care of others or all sorts of things outside ourselves over the course of a day and when we start to feel depleted, frustrated, or even depressed about how little could be accomplished for whatever reasons, a moment of self-compassion can do wonders!

A moment of self-compassion can give us profound relief because it acknowledges that we are naturally limited in what we can do and that whatever we were able to do IS enough - we can only do what we can do and when we have tried our best, then that is all we CAN do, because that's all we have control over.

And sometimes, if we weren't even able to do our best, that's ok too. A moment of self-compassion reminds us that we are not machines - we are human BEINGS - not human doings! We need some time each day when we can JUST BE and not do-do-do all the time. A moment of self-compassion gives us permission to be human and let go of that striving for perfectionism which so many of us tend to chase.

Exercising true kindness towards ourselves is one of the healthiest choices we can make for ourselves - each and every day - again and again!

The tasks never end and we will never get it all done anyway...! So let's relax. STOP before driving yourself crazy. Instead, grant yourself a moment of self-compassion! It can help a lot to bring things into balance again.
Getting into a habit of exercising some self-compassion every day and reminding ourselves of our human beingness and the necessity of downtime and time to just be every day will benefit our mental health and emotional balance enormously.

Exercising true kindness towards ourselves is one of the healthiest choices we can make for ourselves - each and every day - again and again! Asking ourselves with self-compassion 'what do I really need right now?' and then bit by bit bringing more and more of what it is that we really need into our lives - step by step - it will so benefit your well-feeling.
Making some moments of self-compassion a habit every day can have a life-changing effect.

Start with nurturing yourself with some deep breath and an enhanced intake of fresh life-energy.
Take 10 deep slow long deep breaths. "Breath in and say to yourself, “I am”, breathe out saying, “I am enough.”
