The Art of Rest & Relaxation - Week 5

Today I will take you on an inner journey of imagination to visualise, hear, and feel your ideal way of resting and relaxing, what it looks like, what you can see, hear, maybe even smell or taste, and feel there in that ideal place and situation.

It is extremely helpful to imagine what we long for - in doing so we are already a step closer to bringing it into our reality.

Mind over matter. The body achieves what the mind believes. 'You can do anything, you set your mind to.' This quote by Benjamin Franklin is a well-known classic, but it has roots also in the history of Yoga from about 2000 years ago.

 

The sixth limb of the eightfold path of Yoga is called Dharana, one-pointed focused attention. Kaisa Kapanen explains: "Remember the last time you were totally focused and immersed in one activity? Whether something creative like painting or writing, or something physical like dancing or running, your mind was still except for that one thing.
This kind of state of total focus... It's a peaceful feeling, don't you agree? This in its essence is Dharana, the total concentration of the mind." And one way to achieve this is via visualisation.

Michelle Fondin describes it's power in an article on chopra.com, she says: "Visualization is a great skill for manifesting desires. The reason why most people have difficulty manifesting the objects of their desire is that they are looking at the obstacles in front of them rather than having a clear, focused picture of the outcome..."

So here is an invitation to let go of looking at obstacles for now and immerse yourself into creating the most beautiful scenery you can come up with in your imagination and enjoy the most perfect rest & relaxation situation you can possibly imagine.

I will guide you into a beautiful imaginary situation and from there feel free to create your own with adding things in or letting fall away what doesn't resonate..... create your perfect environment which is utmost nourishing, nurturing, safe, protected, and has all the ingredients important to you for a time of wonderful rest & relaxation.

Please take 10 deep, slow, long, smooth and even breath and fully enjoy you imaginary creation... Become aware of what you see, hear, smell, taste or feel in your beautiful rest & relaxation oasis you just created for yourself...
